Surrey Wedding Venue: Nonsuch Mansion

Last month I visited Surrey wedding venue Nonsuch Mansion in Cheam to interview their co-ordinator to find out more about this stunning venue. Nonsuch is a beautiful Surrey wedding venue situated in the heart of Cheam Village in Surrey. I asked their wedding co-ordinator a series of questions to gain some insight as to what it’s like to have your wedding at this venue.

What makes Nonsuch Mansion special?

This gothic Tudor mansion is steeped with history, dating back to Henry VIII. The amazing bay windows mean that you can look over the exquisite walled gardens which look beautiful all year round. 

How many Surrey weddings do you host a year?

Is the orchid room the only room you can get married in?

Yes, we are only licensed to hold ceremonies in the Orchid Room. It is a large room which can hold 120 people. For smaller ceremonies, we can close the door in the middle of the room to create a smaller room for more intimate ceremonies.

What time does the evening reception finish?

Our license ends at midnight with the last song at 11:45pm. Couples can extend the license at an additional cost of £500 an hour.

Are fireworks allowed?

No to fireworks but sparklers are allowed. Sparkler photos are very popular.

Can people stay in the mansion overnight?

Unfortunately not, but we have some amazing hotels within 15 minutes of the mansion. This gives the couple the opportunity to have a lovely send off.

Do you offer menu tastings before the wedding?

Yes, included in the price is a shared tasting night at Nonsuch. You get to try three starters, three mains and desserts as well as canapes and prosecco. If a couple wishes to have a second tasting, there is an additional cost and the tasting takes place at the Head Office in Wandsworth.

Does the whole park get shut off to the public?

Unfortunately not as it’s a public park. The section directly in front of the mansion does get roped off at each side. The pathways are also closed and the formal lawns become exclusive to the couple. This is perfect for the drinks reception in the Spring and Summer.

How long has the mansion been hosting weddings for?

Around 30 years!

Do you have packages people choose from?

We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach as every wedding is bespoke to the couples needs. However, we do have suggested guidelines to help the couple put together their day.

What’s the wedding co-ordinators role on the day?

Your wedding planners role on the day is to make sure everything runs smoothly and to time. We act as the main point of contact for the couple and are there at any point for questions. We want you to relax and enjoy every minute of your special day!
